Spectacles donation project.
Dharma Vijaya Foundation is conducting a project to provide spectacles to the members of Dharma Vijaya Societies established across the country and the students in dhamma schools by conducting eye screening clinics. A large number of clinics have already been completed.
The first step of this program is proving a theoretical knowledge for a selected educated group of members of the respective societies. Under the training provided by the Eye Specialist medical doctors, they are identifying the people in the village who are suffering from vision problems.
During the next step, Eye Specialist Dr. Nalin Gunasinghe, a Trustee of the Foundation conducts eye clinics and identifies the diseases of each of them. Patients with long standing and complexed ailments are directed to the relevant hospitals while others are supplied with suitable spectacles. Each patient receives a report on diagnosis and that can be used for any requirement in the future.
About 200 – 300 patients are screened at each eye clinic. Most of them are conducted at the temples where Dharma vijaya Societies are established and all spectacles are provided free of charge and sponsored by Dharma Vijaya Foundation.
